Already featured on the Liverpool debut of Boiler room in the summer,
the latest Circus Recordings release talks straight up…
After the runaway success of the “Lost EP” for Circus Recordings, David Glass returns, inviting friends CDC to join him to create this four tracker for his home label. Like Circus, Yousef, Lewis Boardman, Acid Mondays, Kydus and David Glass himself, CDC hail from the impossibly buoyant underground house scene Liverpool is experiencing in recent years.
4 serious house music cuts, 4 head down dance floor moments, 4 tracks that are cool enough for backroom, yet big enough for the main room, 4 beats that have maturity but still with the youthful effervescence Circus is known for.
CDC
CDC are Wayne Cuddy and Davy Kidd, who alongside their own label (Carpe Diem Musica) have been carefully constructing a new wave of tracks, production hook ups and EP releases, turning the heads of industry heavyweights along the way. The huge “Get Hyped” Ep was a sonar stand out and sat in the boxes of Dubfire, Richie Hawtin, Yousef, John Digweed, Hector Couto, Sidney Charles, Cuartero, Flashmob & Pirupa all summer long
David Glass
5 years ago, a fresh faced raver happened over a couple of djs playing at a club night in his home town of Liverpool, this was to be David’s first taste of authentic house music at its finest. An Easter Sunday at the legendary Circus Club with Yousef and Ricardo Villalobos in control was to change the life of a young David Glass perpetually. Blown away by his first experience of this new world, David Glass knew he had finally discovered his sound.
Honing his studio craft at the tender age of 18, David was originally influenced by early hip hop and old school 90’s dance, yet after the infamous visit to Circus his style evolved. Now leaning towards the darker side of house, his music and dj sets are laced with a broader jackin’ tech essence, yet still retaining that infectious groove.
Circus and Circus Recordings owner Yousef was still unaware of the developing synergy, ironically discovering David via his long time friends Loco Dice and Phil Weeks as they were hammering David’s huge ”Hood Chicks” on Witty Tunes. After another release on Robsoul the penny finally dropped for Yousef and David was signed to Circus Recordings for the immense four track “Lost Ep”. The release illuminated David to Nic Fanciulli, Richie Hawtin, Luciano, Pete Tong (with a essential selection play) and of course Carl Cox who opened his 2012 essential mix with the EP’s lead track.
